KING'S RANSOM
Title: King’s Ransom
Author: ED McBAIN
Publisher: Oxford University Press
Literary genre: Novel
When my English teacher said to us that we
had to read a book, I looked for one in my home and I found this one, a book that other
teacher gave me in an English course, and I still had not been able to read it.
The plot is about a child kidnapped by
two small-time crooks. They want to kidnap the King’s son, a rich person who is
planning a big and expensive business deal. But they take the wrong boy, the son
of King’s chauffeur. The chauffeur hasn’t money to pay the ransom and Mr. King
doesn’t want to pay it because if he does it, he will not have money to close
the business deal and he will lose his work.
At the end, the wife of one of the
crooks, alerts the police and they are able to rescue the boy without paying anything.
This is a good book for whom likes novels about crimes and mysteries, and show us how there are rich person, who
prefer not to lose the position rther than to save the life of other people, in
this case, a boy. This kind of situation takes sometimes that these rich people lose their best friends
and relatives. How would you have acted if you were Mr. King?
